Dr. James Hotham
Medical Director & Veterinarian
Dr. Hotham has been practicing veterinary medicine since 2000, after attending the Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island and undergraduate studies at the University of Maine. He started HVS in 2008. He enjoys the relationships that develop by being an integral part of an animal’s health and welfare. He especially enjoys soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, dermatology, internal medicine and dentistry. In his free time, he likes to tinker on his tractors, tractor pulling, snowmobiling and spending time at home with his family and 2 dogs, Frank and Bee.
Dr. Vicky Morin
Medical Director & Veterinarian
Dr. Morin has been practicing veterinary medicine since 1993, after attending the Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island. She joined HVS in 2023. Dr. Morin prides herself on working together as a team; owners, veterinarians, technicians, assistants and receptionists, to try and offer the very best quality of life that we can achieve for our loved companion animals. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family, as well as enjoying time with my dogs, cats and chickens.
Dr. Candace Hersey-Benner
Veterinarian
Dr. Hersey-Benner has been practicing veterinary medicine since 2007, after attending Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine and undergraduate studies at Bates College. She joined HVS in 2017. Dr. Hersey-Benner prides herself on being compassionate, especially for those pets that are fearful and need a gentle, soft hand for their appointment. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, stained glass crafts and furniture refinishing.
Natalie
Veterinary Assistant
Natalie joined HVS in 2025, but has been working as a veterinary assistant since 2000. She prides herself on promoting fear-free practice. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and her pets.
Stacie
Practice Manager
Stacie has been working in the veterinary field since 1996, after obtaining her MSc and BSc in Animal, Veterinary and Aquatic Sciences from the University of Maine. She joined the team at HVS in 2008. She loves being a part of a fabulous team that helps provide compassionate, quality care to our patients.
She enjoys spending time with her family, friends and her two dogs Franklin and Beatrice. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, cooking, gardening, and traveling to new places.
Elizabeth
Licensed Veterinary Technician, Lead
Liz has been working as licensed veterinary technician since 2003, after obtaining her degree in Veterinary Technology from the University of Maine Augusta, Bangor campus. She joined the team at HVS in 2008, since we opened the practice. She prides herself on being extremely knowledgeable and efficient at her job. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her children and fur babies. She also enjoys concerts, traveling and making each moment count.
Brooke
Veterinary Assistant
Brooke has been working with us at HVS as veterinary assistant since 2021. She enjoys taking care of the patients and making sure they are well cared for with kindness and compassion. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, doing puzzles, and spending time with her family and her pets.
Hunter
Veterinary Assistant
Hunter joined our team at HVS in 2021. She prides herself on being a quick learner who is always willing to lend a helping hand in any situation to help the team provide the best care for our patients. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family.
Julian
Veterinary Assistant
Julian has been working with us at HVS as veterinary assistant since 2025. He takes pride in his physical strength and ability to aid his team. Julian is always willing to lend a strong, yet comforting hand. In his spare time, he likes to play with his 3 cats and dog, Walter. He also enjoys carpentry and playing video games with friends.
Rebecca
Lead Client Services Representative
Rebecca joined our team at HVS in 2022. She prides herself on providing clients with the best customer service possible. In her free time, she enjoys photography and visiting farmers markets.
Sheila
Client Services Representative, Lead
Sheila joins HVS in 2016, but has been working in the veterinary field for 17 years. She enjoys providing excellent care and service to our clients. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, cooking, ATV rides and spending time with her “fur babies”.
Erin
Veterinary Technician
Erin has been working in the veterinary field for over 11 years and joined the team at HVS in 2019. She takes pride in reading a patient’s body language and takes the time to gain their trust, so their experience with us can be less stressful. She acts with compassion and understanding so that each patient’s visit can be as comfortable as possible.
In her spare time she can either be found at home with her cats and dogs, sitting around my fire pit or board and airplane, heading off on an adventure.
Darcie I.
Veterinary Technician
Darcie joined our team in 2019 after graduating from Northern Maine Community College and has recently completed her Veterinary Technician Degree at Penn Foster in 2026. She prides herself on taking care of each animal that comes into the clinic as if it was her own. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family, outdoor activities and taking care of her cows.
Shannon
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Shannon has been working as licensed veterinary technician since 2003, after obtaining her degree in Veterinary Technology from Becker College in Leicester, Massachusetts. She joined the team at HVS in 2013. Shannon prides herself in providing our patients with the best care possible while they are with us, whether it is for surgery/dental procedures or if they are hospitalized due to illness. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, going on ATV rides, attending truck/tractor pulls with her dad, going to the movies and reading. She also enjoys spending time with and caring for her fur and feathered babies.
Angela
Veterinary Technician
Angie has been working as licensed veterinary technician since 2010, after obtaining her degree in Biology from UMFK. She joined the team at HVS in 2022. She takes pride in reading animal’s body language and handling them accordingly, so they feel safe and comfortable. She always treats hospitalized animals like her own. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her dogs, hiking, and time in the outdoors. She also enjoys community activities such as officiating soccer and cross fit.

Client Services Representative
Stacy joined our team at HVS in 2024. She prides herself on providing excellent customer service. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their two dogs.
